The studio behind the work.
WalkUp Digital is a digital production studio. Strategy, design and development are handled by the same team from the first conversation to launch and beyond.
Direct accountability
The people who take the brief are the people who design, build and support the work. Nothing is delegated through layers.
Working software, early
Functional builds are reviewed in the browser from the earliest stage, so decisions are made on the product itself rather than on static mock-ups.
Built to be maintained
Every website is delivered with a maintenance plan that keeps it hosted, monitored and current. Launch is treated as the beginning of the service.
One standard, two markets
Clients in Europe and the United States receive the same process, the same documentation and the same level of care.
Built from the ground up.
A walk-up is a building reached on foot, floor by floor, without an intermediary at the entrance. The name reflects how we work: directly, with the people responsible for the outcome accessible throughout the project. The ascending W in our mark carries the same idea.
In depthAbout WalkUp Digital
Direct accountability
Many agency engagements fail at the handover: a brief is taken by one person, interpreted by a second, designed by a third and built by a fourth, and at each stage part of the original intent is lost. The studio is organised to prevent this. The team that takes the brief is the team that designs, develops and supports the work, and questions are answered by the people responsible for the outcome.
Working software, early
Static mock-ups are an unreliable basis for decisions about websites. They cannot show how a page performs on a mobile connection, how navigation behaves under touch, or how a headline wraps at a small viewport. We therefore put working builds in the browser at the earliest practical stage and conduct reviews on the product itself. Decisions made in this way hold after launch because they were made under real conditions.
Built to be maintained
A website that is not maintained becomes a liability. Every website we deliver is built with its maintenance in mind: hosting we can operate, a platform that can be updated without disruption, forms that can be verified, and backups that can be restored. Website Care is not an addition at the end of a project; it informs how the project is scoped from the beginning.
One standard, two markets
The studio works with clients in Europe and the United States. The process, the documentation, the maintenance plans and the reporting are identical in both markets. All work is conducted in English, remotely, on a schedule agreed in writing at the start of each engagement.
Commitments
We do not guarantee search rankings, because no responsible practitioner can. We do not offer unlimited support, because a service without defined scope cannot be relied upon. We do not compete with maintenance offerings that cannot fund genuine technical responsibility. And we do not retain control of a client's assets: on completion of a project, the website, the source code, the design files and the accounts belong to the client without restriction.
Quality standards
Every website is built to a defined standard. Accessibility follows the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines at level AA: sufficient colour contrast, keyboard operability, descriptive labels and support for reduced motion. Performance is measured against Core Web Vitals on a mid-range mobile device before launch. Security is addressed through up-to-date platforms, restricted access, verified backups and continuous monitoring under Website Care. Every project is documented so that the client's team, or a future supplier, can understand and operate what has been delivered.
Review and approval follow a consistent pattern: working material is presented at defined stages, feedback is consolidated in a single channel, and each stage is approved in writing before the next begins. This keeps the project on schedule and ensures that the final result reflects decisions taken deliberately rather than by default.
How a project is run
Each project has a single written scope agreed before work begins, one designated channel for feedback, a regular review of working material, and a record of decisions so that the reasoning behind the work remains available throughout the engagement. Handover is conducted as a working session with the client's team, not as a file transfer.
Tools and infrastructure
Design is carried out in industry-standard tools and reviewed in the browser as soon as working code exists. All code is held in version control from the first day and deployed through automated pipelines, so that every change is traceable and reversible. Websites are hosted on infrastructure we can monitor and restore. Reports are written for the people who run the business, not for technical specialists. We deliberately use widely adopted tools, so that a client can take their website and files elsewhere without depending on a proprietary system.
The name
A walk-up is a building reached on foot, floor by floor, without an intermediary at the entrance. The name describes the way the studio works: directly, and with the people responsible for the outcome accessible throughout the project. The ascending W in the mark carries the same idea.
Working with the studio
Engagements begin with an enquiry through the contact page or by email. We respond within one working day, propose a consultation where appropriate, and issue a written proposal before any work is undertaken. Clients retain full ownership of everything delivered.
Scope of the studio
The studio takes on brand identity, websites and the maintenance that follows them. That is the whole list, and it is deliberate: the three are the same problem seen at different distances, and a team that does all three can make decisions in one place that would otherwise be negotiated between three suppliers. Work that falls outside it — advertising campaigns, photography, video production, print production — is referred to specialists we know, and we coordinate with them where a project requires it.
