Questions

Frequently asked.

How long does it take to build a website?

Most business websites go live four to eight weeks after the project starts. Content and approvals usually set the pace more than development does, so having text and images ready keeps the schedule short. The launch date is agreed in the written proposal.

How much does a website cost?

It depends on the number of pages, the integrations required (bookings, payments or a CRM), the languages and any custom functionality. Each project is quoted in writing, with scope, timeline and terms, before any work begins. A short description of what the site has to do is enough to start the conversation.

Will we be able to update the website ourselves?

Yes. Each site includes a content management system your team can use without technical help to update pages, text and images. Where hours for changes are agreed under Website Care, we can also handle routine updates for you. New sections or features are quoted separately.

We already have a website. Will we lose our Google rankings if we replace it?

Not if the move is handled properly. Every old address is redirected permanently to its new equivalent, and pages that perform are kept or improved. The transition is watched in Search Console, so any gap is caught within days. The old site stays available privately until the new one has settled.

Do you design the website too, or only build it?

Both. When we take on the whole website, UI/UX design, development and technical SEO setup run as one coordinated project, with one team. Structure and user flows are agreed before any visual design. You review working builds in the browser throughout development.

Can you build more than a brochure site, with quote forms, ordering or payments?

Yes. Leadinsure (leadinsure.gr) is an insurance brokerage site with quote flows for individuals and for businesses, a partner area and a library of guides. Kalimenu (kalimenu.gr) takes orders and payment at the table, handles waiter calls, and sends food to the kitchen screen and drinks to the bar. Both are described on our work page.

In depth

Web development, in depth

Built to order

Our websites are written for the specific requirements of each project rather than adapted from a generic template. The practical consequences are threefold. Speed: a website containing only the code it requires loads quickly on a mobile connection, where the majority of visitors are. Maintainability: a website without an accumulation of third-party plugins has correspondingly fewer components to update, patch and secure. Ownership: the code is the client's, is readable, and is not tied to a licence that may lapse.

Deliverables

A business website includes a content management system that the client's team can operate without technical assistance; forms that deliver reliably to the client's inbox with spam protection in place; analytics configured, filtered and documented; and deployment handled in full, including hosting, domain, SSL, redirects from any previous website, and a launch on the agreed date. Performance and accessibility fundamentals are built in rather than added afterwards: images sized for the requesting screen, text accessible to screen readers, and layouts that do not shift as they load.

Platform selection

The appropriate platform depends on who will operate the website after launch. For most business websites this means a lightweight content management system with a clear editing experience and no unnecessary extensions. For e-commerce it means a commerce platform that handles payments, tax and shipping correctly. For web applications it means custom development. The recommendation is made during scoping, in writing and with reasons, and reflects the fact that the platform selected is the one the studio will maintain under Website Care for years to come.

Scope and timeline

The scope of a web development project is determined by the number of pages, the integrations required, such as booking, payments or CRM, multilingual content, and custom functionality. The complete business website combines UI/UX design, development and SEO setup into a single project. Most business websites go live four to eight weeks after project start, with the timeline determined largely by the provision of content and approvals.

After launch

Launch is a milestone, not the end of our involvement. Websites are built with their maintenance in mind, and the Website Care plan that follows is scoped at the same time as the build: hosting we can operate, a platform that updates cleanly, forms that can be verified, and backups that can be restored. Organisations with their own technical team may elect a standalone website instead, with an extended handover and a limited warranty period.

Forms, integrations and analytics

A contact form that is filtered as spam, or that collects data without appropriate consent, is a liability. Forms are built with spam protection that does not obstruct genuine visitors, consent handled in accordance with applicable regulation, and delivery verified monthly under Website Care. Integrations, whether booking systems, payment providers, email marketing tools or CRM platforms, are connected so that data arrives where the business works. Analytics are configured with the events relevant to the business defined, internal traffic excluded, and a concise guide to interpreting the results.

Security

Security is built into the delivery rather than added afterwards. Every website is served over HTTPS with a monitored certificate; access to hosting, the content management system and third-party services is restricted to named accounts with the minimum necessary permissions; platforms and components are kept current; and backups are verified. Under Website Care, these measures are maintained and reported on monthly.

Performance

Performance is designed in and then measured. Images are served at the size the screen requests, in modern formats. Fonts are limited in number and loaded so that text appears immediately. Scripts are restricted to those the page requires. Layouts do not shift during loading. Targets are those used by search engines for Core Web Vitals, and every website is tested against them on a mid-range mobile device over a throttled connection before launch.

Replacing an existing website

When a new website replaces an existing one, its search standing must be preserved. Every previous address is mapped to its new equivalent with permanent redirects, content that performs is retained or improved rather than removed, and the transition is monitored in Search Console so that any omission is identified within days rather than months. Launch is scheduled for a quiet period, and the previous website is retained privately until the new one has settled.

Starting a project

Enquiries can be submitted through the contact form, selecting web development, or by email to hello@walkupdigital.com with a description of the requirements and the intended timeline. We respond within one working day. Where appropriate, a consultation follows, after which we issue a written proposal covering scope, timeline and terms.

Ownership

The source code, the content and all accounts associated with the website belong to the client. Hosting and services are established in the client's name from the outset, and nothing delivered depends on a proprietary system that cannot be transferred.

A website is an ongoing responsibility, not a one-time delivery.
